Arte Latino comes to New Mexico State University

The University Art Gallery and the Center for Latin American and Border Studies will sponsor "Arte Latino" with the Museum of New Mexico's Van of Enchantment and guest lecturer Laura Addison Monday, June 3.

Artwork from the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art in Santa Fe will be on display in the van and will include pieces by artists from the Smithsonian American Art Museum's traveling exhibition "Arte Latino," which will be on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe from June 28 through Sept. 22.


The van will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. in the north end of the Corbett Center Student Union parking lot.

Addison, assistant curator of education for the Museum of Fine Arts, will give a lecture at noon in Hardman Hall Room 208 on the New Mexico State University campus. Addison is a contributing writer to "The The," Santa Fe's arts journal. She will be lecturing on contemporary Latino art.

"Arte Latino" is one of eight exhibitions in "Treasures to Go," from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, touring the nation this year. It includes 66 paintings, sculptures and photographs dating from 1795 to the present.
