New Mexico State University theater department announces 2002-2003 season

New Mexico State University Department of Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC) have announced their 2002-2003 season.

st production of the season will be "Six Characters in Search of an Author" by Luigi Pirandello. It will run Oct. 4-13.

From Nov. 29-Dec. 8 the musical "She Loves Me," based on a book by Joe Masteroff, with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, will be presented.

Two one-act plays, "Riders" by theater department head Ruth Cantrell and Julio Ortiz, and "The Beer Can Tree" by R. David Cox, will play Feb. 7-16, 2003. "Riders" is a new play based on the one-act tragedy "Riders to the Sea" by John M. Synge.

"Dinner with Friends," a Pulitzer Prize winning play by Donald Margulies, will be performed March 14-23.

The final production is Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet." It will play April 25-May 4.

ASTC is bringing two Creede Repertory Theatre touring productions for a limited engagement. The children's play "Pecos Bill and the Ghost Stampede" by Eric Coble will be performed Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. "Under Milk Wood" by Dylan Thomas will play Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

All productions can be seen at the Hershel Zohn Theatre on campus.
