NMSU Museum to feature exhibit of African currency

"The Artistry of African Currency" will open at the New Mexico State University Museum on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, and run through Feb. 19, 2005.

ibit will feature actual samples and interpretive panels of various currencies once used in African societies, including salt, shells, beads, metal, jewelry, woven cloth and indigenous and European coins.

The exhibit was developed by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art and circulated by the Smithsonian's Traveling Exhibition Service.
