Local political leaders to discuss women's role in politics

The New Mexico State University Women's Studies Program, the Department of Government and Feminists Reinventing Equality Everywhere (FREE) will host a nonpartisan panel discussion on "The Personal is Political: Women in Politics," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21.

e event will be held in the Corbett Center Student Union Room 210.
Las Cruces City Councilor Dolores Connor, Rep. Mary Helen Garcia, District Attorney Susana Martinez and Sen. Mary Kay Papen will discuss the most important public policy issues for the upcoming election.
They will discuss issues relevant to women such as becoming more active in politics. They also will speak about the impact of women's leadership in the political process, public policy making and developing political leadership in the community.
