NMSU theater department presents holiday musical "Season's Greetings"

The New Mexico State University Department of Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC) will present the musical stage production "Season's Greetings" Nov. 26 through Dec. 5 at the Hershel Zohn Theatre on the NMSU campus.

"Season's Greetings" is a collection of Christmas memories from personal experiences of the entire cast.

"A few years ago we had a class project that involved everyone getting up and telling a short Christmas story about something that happened to them personally and we ended up with more than 100 personal memories," said Michael Wise, director and artistic director for the NMSU theater department.

Wise said he has since worked to bring the memories together with songs and well-known stories to create a montage of both the good and the bad about the holidays.

"There is really something for everybody in 'Season's Greetings,'" Wise said. "It's a great way to get everyone into the spirit of the season."

The cast includes NMSU theater students Jiji Hise, Kathryn Horan, Joby Strachen, Angela Zagone and Jesus Villanueva, as well as community members Anthony Baker, Fredrick Branch, Melissa Pincomb and Elizabeth Antholzner.

Scenic and lighting design is by resident designer Jim Billings and costume design is by Nicole Read and Wayne Hilton. The musical director is Lynda Abshire and the stage manager is NMSU theater student Nichol McDaniel. The sound is designed by M. David Sage and properties by technical director David Hereford.

Tickets for "Season's greetings" are $8-$13, depending on performance time and date. For times and reservations call the ASTC box office at (505) 646-4515 or 1-800-525-ASTC.
