University Communications receives awards

Three first-place awards in communications competitions were won this spring by staff of University Communications at New Mexico State University.

Publications staff, headed by Betty Sadler, won a Grand Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV in the brochures category for the Honors Program booklet. Designer was Ronnie Garver and editor, Lisa Golden.

CASE IV competition draws entries from colleges and universities in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Also winning a Grand Award was the News Bureau staff for "Get in the Game," a 30-second radio spot that aired on the Aggie Sports Network during Aggie and Roadrunner games in 1998-99. Dan Trujillo headed a team including Rachel Kendall, Rita Popp and Karl Hill.

Printing and Duplicating Center staff, headed by manager Michael Alred, won a first-place award in the catalogs category from the International Publishing Management Association and In-Plant Graphics magazine for the production of the Honors Program booklet. This contest is open to all in-house printing plants, both corporate and educational.
