Immigration and human rights experts to speak at NMSU

As immigration and border issues continue to catch the attention of the nation, two experts will discuss these themes and the implications of policy decisions that have been made in a combined public lecture at New Mexico State University.


orres, director of public education and advocacy for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc., and Jose Luis Morin, associate professor and chairman of the Puerto Rican/Latin American Studies Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, will present public lectures on Tuesday, March 7, in the Corbett Center Auditorium.

Torres, the first speaker, will discuss "Empowering Women, Immigrants and the Law" at

6 p.m. Morin, whose topic is "Latino/a Rights and Justice in the U.S.," will begin his presentation at 7 p.m.
A question-and-answer session will conclude the program.
