NMSU campus observatory to hold open house April 7

New Mexico State University's Department of Astronomy will hold an open house at the campus observatory starting at 8 p.m. Friday, April 7.


permitting, participants will observe the Orion Nebula (stellar nursery), the planet Saturn, the moon and the Beehive Cluster.

Astronomy personnel on hand will be faculty member Nancy Chanover and graduate students Jim Norwood and Carrie Anderson.

The Tombaugh Observatory is located east of Williams Avenue, near the running track. Admission is free and children are welcome. The domes are not heated, so dress according to the weather.
