NMSU TO PRESENT MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
The Dona Ana Lyric Opera will present "Into the Woods" in the Music Center Recital Hall at New Mexico State University at 8 p.m. Aug. 5, at 3 p.m. Aug. 6, at 8 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12 and at 3 p.m. Aug. 13.

The NMSU Pride Band will present "Concert on the Green" at the Corbett Center Outdoor Stage Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. Members of the campus and community are encouraged to attend.

NMSU HOSTS AGGIE WELCOME WEEK
New Mexico State University will host a new student orientation Aug. 19-22 that will give incoming freshmen the opportunity to meet faculty and staff in their colleges before classes begin and listen to national speakers address a wide variety of issues including smart choices about alcohol and other relevant information. Students will participate in team-building exercises, discussions about the variety of programs offered, campus tours and special events.

NMSU THEATRE ARTS TO HOLD FALL AUDITIONS
NMSU Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company will hold auditions for their fall 2006 shows in the Hershel Zohn Theatre on Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for actors 10-70 years old.

A sign up sheet for a five minute audition slot will be posted on the callboard in the Hershel Zohn Theatre lobby starting Aug. 21. Actors are asked to come prepared with a memorized monologue running no longer than 60 seconds and 16 bars of an up-tempo song from a musical.

UNIVERSITY MUSEUM PRESENTS AUGUST EXHIBITS
"New Mexico State University: The First 30 Years" is currently on display at the University Museum and will run through December 16. It features artifacts and photographs that provide a glimpse into the first 30 years at NMSU, when it was called the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts.

"Peru Mestizo: Life and Art in a Colonial Kingdom" is on display until August 12. The exhibit looks at the development of colonial life in Peru through photographs of paintings and architecture of the time. It focuses on the unique style of art produced by the Cuzco school of Peruvian-born mestizo and Indian painters in the 17th and 18th centuries. Worldwide acclaimed artist Jose Higinio Perea will be featured.

"Pottery from the Americas" is a permanent exhibit of more than 600 prehistoric and historical Southwestern and Mesoamerican ceramics.
