Student to become President for a Day

New Mexico State University President Michael Martin will be trading places with the lucky student who wins this year's President for a Day raffle.

ning student will accompany President Martin as he takes on his daily tasks. The student will be involved in decisions and go through every activity that President Martin would do on a regular day. President Martin will then join the student for a day of classes and eat lunch with the winner's friends, following the student on his or her daily routine.

The winner will be announced at this year's Inter-Fraternity Council and Panhellenic Council Faculty/Staff Appreciation Reception on April 1 at the Player's Club Grill at the University Golf Course.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for students to see how the administration and the university decision-making process work," said David Hotz, assistant director of campus activities.

The raffle will benefit the NMSU Foundation's Greek Endowment Fund, which was started in 1995 with a goal to raise $100,000 to support scholarships, conference attendance and educational speakers.

Last year, the winning student accompanied Interim President and Provost William Flores during his daily routine. This is the first year the president will accompany the student.

Tickets will be sold by IFC and Panhellenic officers at tables set up around campus and in Corbett Center until April 1. Students also can buy tickets in the Greek Life Office on the second floor of Corbett Center. They are $1 each or six for $5.
