NMSU to present symposium on U.S.-Mexico resources

The National Park Service and New Mexico State University will present a U.S.-Mexico Border States symposium on the "Management of Natural and Cultural Resources" April 19-21.


posium will focus on three main topics, Natural Protected Areas and Cultural Heritage, Wildlife Management, and Tribal Relations and Efforts. It is an international forum for discussion and information exchange on successful programs, common issues and the identification of opportunities for the improvement of trans-boundary cooperation in the management of natural and cultural resources.

The objectives of the symposium are to gain a better understanding of common issues for the protection of natural and cultural resources, help establish contacts and networking among resource managers and the public and provide for the exchange of information between the United States and Mexico.

The forum is open to faculty, students, universities, government representatives, indigenous groups and the general public. Participants will include the Department of Defense, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, University of New Mexico, Instituto Chihuahuense de la Cultura and others.
