KRWG-FM does well at regional conference

KRWG-FM, the public radio station at New Mexico State University, won two awards at the 1999 New Mexico Broadcasters Conference May 1 in Albuquerque.

Music Director David Brower came away with the award for "Single Topic Event of News Coverage" for his profile on musician Ana Egge. The piece ran nationally on National Public Radio's Morning Edition last August. Egge, who is from Silver City, N.M., will be touring with the Lilith Fair this summer.

News Director Bob Mitchell won the "In-Depth Reporting in a Series" for his series, "Kids as Pawns." Mitchell's three-part report explored innovative ways the Las Cruces community prevents children in custody battles from becoming "parental pawns."

KRWG-FM was the only public radio station to compete in the NMBA Large-Market Radio category.

KRWG-FM can be found at 90.7 on the FM dial.
