NMSU campus observatory to hold open house Sept. 1

New Mexico State University's Department of Astronomy will hold an open house at the campus observatory starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1.


permitting, participants will observe the planet Jupiter, the first-quarter moon and some clusters in the Milky Way. Astronomy personnel on hand will be faculty member Rene Walterbos and graduate students Jillian Bornak and Catharine Wu.

The Tombaugh Observatory is located east of Williams Avenue, near the running track. Admission is free and children are welcome.
