World record holder to visit New Mexico State University

Gary Guller, the first person with one arm to scale Mount Everest, will speak at New Mexico State University on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

s presentation, sponsored by the NMSU Outdoor Adventure Program, will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 226 of the NMSU Activity Center.

In 2003, Guller led the largest cross-disability group to reach Mount Everest Base Camp at 17,500 feet and became the first person with one arm to reach the summit of the highest mountain in the world. He is now a motivational speaker.

Ben Gabriel, assistant coordinator for the Outdoor Adventure Program, said Guller has the ability to challenge people's ideas about what their limitations are.

In his presentation, Guller shares what he has learned from his experiences and adventures in the past 20 years. His accomplishments have been featured in Time, Newsweek, National Geographic Adventure Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Outside Magazine, on MSNBC and ABC.
