WORKFORCE CONFERENCE SCHEDULED OCT. 14


ico State University-Dona Ana will sponsor the 2nd Annual Southern New Mexico Workforce Changing World of Work Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Las Cruces Hilton.

LA SOCIEDAD PARA LAS ARTES TO SPONSOR HUNGER BENEFIT
La Sociedad Para Las Artes at New Mexico State University will sponsor the 13th Annual Hunger Benefit beginning at 7 p.m. Oct. 20.

The event will begin at the Rio Grande Theatre featuring a silent auction, door prizes and readings from Charles D'Ambrosio and other local writers. The benefit will continue at 10 p.m. at El Patio in Old Mesilla with a music reception featuring indie rock band The Sadies.

The event raises money for Casa de Peregrinos, a local charity that offers hot meals and other services for people in need. For more information call (505) 646-2027.


NMSU ART GALLERY TO FEATURE PAINTER, PHOTOGRAPHER
The Art Gallery at New Mexico State University hold an opening reception for an exhibition by painter Marietta Leis and photographer Betty Hahn from 5;30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. The exhibition will run through Dec. 16. For more information call (505) 646-2545.


NMSU THEATRE ARTS TO PRESENT "CLOUD TECTONICS"
New Mexico State University's Department of Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC) will present "Cloud Tectonics" Oct. 21-30 at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

Set in Los Angeles, the story begins when Anibal de la Luna picks up hitchhiker Celestina del Sol, who claims to be 54 years old and pregnant for two years.

Tickets for "Cloud Tectonics" are $8 to $13, depending on performance time and date. For times and reservations, call the ASTC box office at (505) 646-4515.


NMSU TO HOST TOURNAMENT OF BANDS
The 28th Annual New Mexico Tournament of Bands will be held Oct. 22 at New Mexico State University's Aggie Memorial Stadium. The competition, sponsored by the NMSU Pride Band, is designed to recognize and reward regional bands and student musicians who display the highest degree of excellence.
