NMSU student government to host Homecoming 2005 events

In addition to New Mexico State University Alumni Association events for Homecoming 2005, the Associated Students of NMSU will host several events prior to and during Homecoming week.

vents will kick off with a campus service project, Keep State Great, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Preciado Park next to O'Donnell Hall. This service project invites all students, faculty and staff to participate in cleaning, painting and aiding the university in improvement projects.

NMSU students will have the opportunity to vote for Homecoming King and Queen Monday through Friday, Oct. 24-28, online at http://www.nmsu.edu.

The Glow Dance Party will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Aggie Underground on the first floor of Corbett Center.

"The Longest Yard" will be shown for free to all students at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, on the football field in Aggie Memorial Stadium.

The Pep Rally and bonfire will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the lot east of Aggie Memorial Stadium. Taking part in the festivities will be the Aggie football team, the Sundancers and Pride Band. The events include the lighting of the bonfire, mtvU Tailgate Tour 2005 and live music.

Crimson Day will take place all day Friday, Oct. 28, across campus. Students will be able to visit decorated houses, offices and residence halls. Maps are available in the ASNMSU office.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, a car show will be held in the Bennigan's parking lot at the corner of University Avenue and Locust Street.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. in the Pan Am parking lot, travel west on University Avenue and turn south on Knox Street.

Homecoming tailgate activities will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 in the lot east of Aggie Memorial Stadium. The football game against the Idaho University Vandals will begin at 6 p.m. The Homecoming royalty coronation will take place at halftime. Homecoming competition results and winners will be announced during the game.
