NMSU campus observatory to hold open house Aug. 4

New Mexico State University's Department of Astronomy will hold an open house at the campus observatory starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4.

Weather permitting, participants will observe the planets Jupiter, Saturn and Mars, the moon and other objects. Astronomy personnel on hand will be department head Jim Murphy and several graduate students.

The Tombaugh Observatory is located east of Williams Avenue, near the running track. Admission is free and children are welcome.
