Lecture to highlight immigration from Mexico

New Mexico State University's Center for Latin American and Border Studies (CLABS) and Chiapas-Las Cruces Connection will present the public lecture "Should I Stay or Should I Go? Immigration From Chiapas, Mexico," at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the CLABS Nason House on the NMSU campus.

ngels, professor emeritus at the State University of New York at Fredonia, will share segments of videotaped interviews with informants from Chiapas talking about immigration and will analyze their responses in the context of a larger view of immigration and related data.

Jungels' most recent full-length documentary is "Sobrepasando las lineas/Crossing the Line," an analysis of the effects of NAFTA on workers and the ways in which workers are beginning to organize across borders, with emphasis on Mexican workers. He is currently in the preliminary stages of a documentary on immigration.
