Civil engineering doctoral candidate Ege Egemen received the second-place award of $750. Egemen holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.

Roberts Award recipients are selected each spring for their outstanding contributions to enhancing NMSU's quality of life.

The award was established by Las Crucens George and Bernice Roberts, in honor of their sons, Stephen W. and Robert, who died in an automobile accident in 1978. Stephen was a 1974 NMSU graduate and Robert was an NMSU student at the time of the accident.
