NMSU Museum offers Saturday Family Workshops

The New Mexico State University Museum will be offering free Family Workshops from 2-3:30 p.m. every Saturday through July 31. The workshops, which are designed to teach children about the current exhibits on display at the Museum, are for children ages 4-12.

Before attending the workshops, parents and children are invited to view the exhibits currently on display, "On Collecting Pottery: The Horace and Patricia Poeter Collection" and "Carpinteros of the New Deal: Making Colonial Spanish Revival Furniture in Dona Ana County."

Scheduled workshops are:

May 29, cave art with bags and chalk.
June 5, paper petroglyph suncatchers.
June 12, rain sticks with old postal cylinders.
June 19, paper mosaics in the shape of symbols found in the museum.
June 26, coloring book using pictures of the furniture in the exhibit.
July 3, tin ornaments using designs of the furniture.
July 10, candle using tin can and wax.
July 17, mini-furniture using clay and popsicle sticks.
July 24, rock painting using your own flat rock.
July 31, tree, wall and brick rubbings.

All Family Workshops will be held outside of Kent Hall, weather permitting. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. Call (505) 646-3739 for more information.
