NMSU-Alamogordo names new CEO

Cheri A. Jimeno has been selected as the new Campus Executive Officer for NMSU-Alamogordo. The appointment of the former provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Montana State University-Northern is effective May 10, 2007.

New Mexico State University Provost and Executive Vice President William Flores said he was "tremendously impressed with her background, especially her history in promoting local business development. Dr. Jimeno has worked with a wide variety of populations including personnel stationed at military installations and native peoples on reservations."

Jimeno earned a Ph.D. in education and business information systems at Utah State University in 2000. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Montana, Missoula, in 1972, and a master's in business education at Montana State University, Bozeman, in 1985.

From 1985 to 2001 she was an associate professor of business at the University of Montana where she taught courses such as business information systems, systems analysis and design, and strategic management. From 2001 until 2003 she served as dean of the School of Education, Business and Technology.

Jimeno has served as provost and chancellor for academic affairs at Montana State University - Northern since 2003.
