New NMSU apartments to hold open house

There will be an open house for the new Chamisa Village apartments from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, on the New Mexico State University main campus.

The apartments are located on the corner of Locust and Stewart streets, adjacent to Corbett Center. There are two and four person apartments with private bedrooms and shared kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms.

The apartments will feature Internet access in each room, full-size beds and community space that emphasizes study rooms and academic endeavors. The apartments are artistically designed with tile colors reflective of the area.

"These apartments are pretty much state of the art for campus apartment housing and designed to balance the privacy and community with the NMSU courtyard concept," said Julie Weber, director of housing and residential life.

The open house will feature tours of both types of apartments and staff from housing and residential life will be available to answer questions. After the open house students can apply for residence in the apartments at the Pete's Place Cyber Cafe inside Corbett Center.

Balloons attached to a construction trailer near the apartments indicate where the tours will begin.
