Browne, a Santa Fe native, is in charge of organizing alumni activities in northern New Mexico.

The new alumni relations position for northern New Mexico was created so the university would have a better presence in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, said Alumni Relations Director Debbie Widger. Roughly 7,000 New Mexico State alumni live in Bernalillo and Santa Fe counties alone, Widger said.

The Alumni Relations Office in Santa Fe has organized a number of activities for alumni in the area, including an alumni Christmas gathering in downtown Santa Fe in December, an alumni reception with New Mexico legislators in February and various functions for Aggie-Lobo games, Browne said.

The university's Office of Alumni and Government Affairs is located at 538 Old Santa Fe Trail, at the corner of Old Santa Fe Trail and Santa Fe Avenue, one block north of the state Capitol.

For more information on Alumni Association events in northern New Mexico, call Browne at (505) 989-9961.

As a student at New Mexico State, Browne was one of the first recipients of the four-year scholarships created by the Fabian Garcia Multicultural Scholars Program for students preparing for careers in food science or agriculture.

An ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, she helped to recruit students, host campus tours and represent the college. She also was a member of the Fisheries and Wildlife Society and the Alpha Zeta academic fraternity, and helped establish the Environmental Science Organization.

In May 2000, Browne received the Dean's Award of Excellence for outstanding undergraduate students.

She graduated in May 2000 with a bachelor's degree in environmental science and minors in environmental chemistry and environmental waste management. She is working on a master's degree in environmental policy and management from the University of Denver.
