Willoughby L. Nason Scholarship applications being accepted

Applications for the Willoughby L. Nason Scholarship are being accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Center for Latin American and Border Studies.


olarship is available to New Mexico State University undergraduate and graduate students whose course of study shows an interest in Latin America or Latin American studies. Applicants must have achieved at least junior status at the university and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates.

The scholarship is for as much as $500 and can be awarded to one or two students. It is offered by the Nason Foundation in memory of Willoughby L. Nason, a graduate student of Latin American history at New Mexico State who died unexpectedly at the age of 33. The Nason House, which is home to the Center for Latin American and Border Studies, was established with money donated by Nason's family after his death.

Applications for the scholarship are available at the Center for Latin American and Border Studies in the Nason House, which is located at 1200 E. University Ave. Finalists will be contated for an interview no later than mid-January.
