Art a la Carte to present New Mexico State University Dance with Debra Knapp

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery's lunchtime performance program, Art a la Carte, will present Debra Knapp, assistant professor of dance and director of the dance program at New Mexico State, at noon Friday, Nov. 1.

lery is located in Williams Hall located near the intersection of Solano Drive and University Avenue.

Knapp will be joined by New Mexico State dance majors Shawna Angulo, Jessica Garcia and Leslie Licon for "Surviving from the Heart." These dances explore fear, anger, grief and courage.

Knapp will also perform "Inner Voices," a dance to the voices of the Bulgarian Women's Choir, "Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares."

Knapp has been on the faculty at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and the University of New Mexico. She was artistic director and choreographer for the Windfall Dancers, a modern dance company based in Indiana. She was a member of Bill Evan's Dance Company of Albuquerque and continues to perform as a guest with the company. She lived in Germany for three years and was a modern dance trainer, rehearsal director, choreographer and performer for the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden.

Art a la Carte features performances from the literary, music, dance and experimental arts community. All Art a la Carte events are free and open to the public.
