La Sociedad para las Artes at New Mexico State presents Karen Brennan reading

Karen Brennan, a fiction and non-fiction novelist, will be featured in La Sociedad para las Artes' Fall 2002 Visiting Author Series at New Mexico State University Friday, Nov. 22.

ding will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Hardman Hall Room 106.

Brennan will read from her novel "Being with Rachel: A Story of Memory and Survival." The book is based on her daughter's struggle with rehabilitation after a motorcycle accident left her with brain damage and caused her to lose much of her ability to make memories.

Brennan is an English professor at the University of Utah. She won the 1990 Associated Writing Program (AWP) Award for Short Fiction for her book "Wild Desire" and has also published a collection of poems, "Here on Earth."

Creative writing graduate student Esperanza Pinky Feria will also be reading from her thesis.

A reception will be held after the reading at The Bean, a coffee shop located at 2488 Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla.

The reading is free and open to the public. Non-perishable food donations for Casa de Peregrinos will be accepted at the door.
