NMSU Alamogordo recognizes outstanding graduates

The New Mexico State University Alumni Association has selected three students from NMSU Alamogordo as Spring 2007 Outstanding Graduates.


A recipient was chosen from each of the three divisions of NMSU-A based on outstanding scholarship, leadership ability and participation in university and community activities. They will be honored at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Pepper's Grill in Alamogordo.

The Math, Science, Business and Technologies Division will honor Tara Noel Green, a medical laboratory technology major. Green has a 2.87 GPA and was one of 50 students nationwide to receive the ASCP MLT Scholarship. She is a member of the NMSU Alamogordo MLT Organization, the Otero County Search and Rescue, the Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Patient Loyalty Team and volunteers as an emergency medical technician in Otero County.

The Humanities, Social Sciences and Education Division will honor Melanie McCrary, who will receive an associate's degree of arts. McCrary has a 3.46 GPA and has received the Hap Arnold Scholarship and the Gerald Champion Women's Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship. She is a former president of the NMSU Alamogordo Social Sciences Club and volunteers at Holloman Air Force Base Elementary School.

The Professional Occupations, Technologies and Fine Arts Division will honor Cammi Taranto, a nursing major. Taranto has a 3.93 GPA and has received the Highest Distinction Award and the Raymond Foundation Scholarship. She also was on the Dean's List and was a 4H member.
