Sen. Domenici to speak at Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici will be the guest speaker at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in the Corbett Center Ballrooms on the New Mexico State University campus.


me for the program will be "Remembering America's Heroes." Racial Harmony Awards will be presented to New Mexico State University Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Director Elva Telles and community business leader Curtis Rosemond.

Elementary, middle and high school students were asked to write about "Bringing Americans Together" for a student essay contest sponsored by the university's Department of Black Programs. Winners will receive a $100 savings bond and a certificate of recognition. The winning essays will be printed in the program.

The breakfast also will feature the presentation of the Andrew L. Wall scholarships, awarded to selected area high school seniors planning to enroll at New Mexico State for the fall 2002 semester.

The cost of the breakfast is $15 and proceeds will be used to support scholarships, emergency loans and outreach activities for New Mexico State students.
