New Mexico State theater students perform in response to terrorist attacks

Students of a New Mexico State University Department of Theatre Arts directing class will hold a performance titled Artists Responding To Terrorism, or ARTT Project, at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Hershel Zohn Theatre on the New Mexico State campus.

T Project will feature a series of short scenes and monologues responding to the events of Sept. 11 and original music composed by directing students. The ARTT Project was written and directed by Directing II students B.J. Anderson, John Burke, Mike Dick, Thomas Gibson, Bugsy Levario, Christa Popovich, Kellene Rees, Diane Stern, Gavin Worth and Rebekah Zabinski.

"In writing this piece I wanted to address some of the questions that arise in tragedy," said directing student John Burke.

Student Kellene Rees said her piece is dedicated to those who lost their lives. "The events of Sept. 11 have changed our lives. It is up to us to decide what our world will become as a result of it," she said.

The ARTT Project will run approximately one hour and will be experimental in nature. Admission is free. For more information call (505) 491-4622.
