NMSU Children's Theatre Workshop to be held

The Children's Theatre Workshop at New Mexico State University, now in its 24th year, will offer two classes for children this year under the instruction of Ruth Cantrell, head of the NMSU theater department.


On Mondays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. children in grades first through third will learn about the American Southwest in the class "Stories of the Southwest." The children will be taught about Native American and cowboy cultures.

On Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. students in grades fourth through eighth will explore the larger than life legends in "American Tall Tales." Students will learn improvisation and comic skills through the enactment of established tales as well as creating new ones.

Classes for the Children's Theatre Workshop will begin the week of Sept. 12 and end the first week of May with productions on the Hershel Zohn Theatre stage.

Space is limited. Cost for the entire year is $270 and may be divided into monthly payments of $30.
