NEW ART EXHIBIT TO OPEN AT NMSU


Thirty-five artists from five southwestern states will be featured in the New Mexico State University Art Gallery's 2007 Regional Exhibition "Art Five," which will be open to the public until Oct. 12.

The featured artists are from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.

The NMSU Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

MUSEUM MORNINGS AT NMSU

The New Mexico State University Museum will have a workshop on "Trade and Travel in Ancient Southwest America" from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Sept. 5.

Adults are invited to see artifacts traded to early residents of southwestern New Mexico and what things they have traveled great distances to acquire.

There is no cost. The NMSU Museum is located in Kent Hall, on University Boulevard and Solano Drive.

NMSU ZUHL MUSEUM TO PRESENT "SECOND SUNDAYS"

New Mexico State University's Zuhl Museum, 775 College Drive, will be open the second Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. to showcase world-class fossils and fun activities for children. The next Second Sunday event will be Sept. 9.

Second Sundays are in addition to the museum's regular hours of Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum showcases outstanding fossils of petrified wood of many colors, species, shapes and sizes; ammonites; turtles; a dragonfly; a bat; and beautiful minerals such as amethyst, rhodochrosite, garnet and malachite.

Second Sundays are free and open to the public. Children may participate in activities hosted by museum staff.
