Quintana will be presented a plaque and a $1,500 award during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Corbett Center Student Union Colfax Room. The presentation will be open to the public.

Quintana has worked at NMSU for 28 years, starting as a records technician in accounts receivable. In 1985, she began working with ASNMSU on a part-time basis. ASNMSU requested she be hired full-time in 1996, and she has since taken on the responsibility of overseeing and coordinating the accounting related functions and responsibilities of ASNMSU.

Her service and commitment to NMSU also goes beyond the typical 8-5 weekdays in the office. Since 1985, Quintana has served as a judge for the Homecoming Parade, only missing it once in 1990 when her daughter was born on Oct. 23.

She has been involved in the planning and support of the Homecoming Bonfire since 1996, and has previously judged for the Southern New Mexico State Fair's Cake Decorating Competition. Quintana has served on various departmental and university committees, including the ASNMSU Finance Committee, the Executive Advisory Committee, the SSWAT Committee, the Administrative Matters Committee and the Outcomes Assessment Committee.

The Roberts Memorial Staff Award is presented annually to a staff member who has made a contribution to university life and demonstrated dedication and outstanding service to the community.

The award was established in 1983 in memory of Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts, sons of former NMSU Vice President of Business Affairs George W. Roberts and his wife, Bernice. Stephen, a 1974 NMSU graduate, and Robert, an NMSU student at the time, were killed in an automobile accident in 1978. The award is made possible through donations of the Roberts' family and friends.
