NMSU celebrates Homecoming 2007

The New Mexico State University Alumni Association will celebrate Homecoming 2007, "Aggie Country through the Ages," Wednesday, Oct. 17, through Saturday, Oct. 20, with numerous alumni events, the Aggie Homecoming football game and Reba McEntire performing at the Pan American Center.


The celebrations on Thursday, Oct. 18, will begin with the seventh annual Danny Villanueva Scholarship Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms. Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds benefit NMSU students. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The Honors College will hold a Crimson Scholar Alumni Picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the trees at Conroy Honors Center.

The College of Education will hold a Distinguished Alumni Reception from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center Courtyard.

Fellow NMSU alumni will have a chance to reunite during the classes of 1947 and 1957's Reunion Dinner from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the CCSU Colfax Room. The class of 1967 also will have a Reunion Dinner from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the CCSU Otero Room.

Homecoming continues with more events honoring NMSU alumni on Oct. 19.

The College of Agriculture and Home Economics will hold a Recognition Breakfast honoring outstanding alumni and donors at 8 a.m. in a tent by the Gerald Thomas Windmill.

The College of Engineering will hold an Alumni Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the CCSU Ballrooms.

The College of Arts and Sciences will hold a Distinguished Alumni Recognition Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

A 40 Year Physical Science Lab Janitor Reunion will welcome student employees who were part of the PSL Janitors Spirit Group from 1966 to 1972. The reunion will begin at 2 p.m. in the PSL Alumni Conference Room.

The College of Business will hold a Distinguished Alumni Reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in Trader's Plaza.

To celebrate NMSU Homecoming with good music and entertainment, both Josh Grider and Reba McEntire will perform in concert at the Pan American center. Grider will perform at 8 p.m. and McEntire at 9 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in person at the NMSU Ticket Office, or from Ticketmaster at (505) 532-2060 or (915) 544-8444 or at the Web site http://www.ticketmaster.com.

The homecoming events on Saturday, Oct. 20, will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Eye Opener Breakfast in the CCSU West and Middle Ballrooms.

The 2007 Homecoming Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Pan Am Center. The parade will continue west on University Avenue and turn onto Knox Street where it will end. From 10 to 11 a.m. there will be a President's Homecoming Parade Reception in the D.W. Williams Hall Art Gallery.

The Ballet Folklorico Group will perform from 11 a.m. to noon on the outdoor stage east of CCSU. For more information, call Ida Baca at (575) 646-4528.

The NMSU Foundation, Aggie Athletic Fund, A-Club and Alumni Association will sponsor a Tailgate Party at 3 p.m. at the Aggie Country Cantina. The cost will be $12 per person.

The NMSU Aggie Football Team will face the Idaho Vandals at 6 p.m. at the Aggie Memorial Stadium. For ticket information, call (575) 646-1420.
