NMSU Cooperative Extension Service and partners host Diabetes Wellness Day

The public is invited to a Diabetes Wellness Day, an educational event for those with diabetes. The event is hosted by MountainView Regional Medical Center, with the help of New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service and other local agencies.

The Diabetes Wellness Day will be held Nov. 10 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees will have a chance to meet with representatives from local agencies to learn more about the services they offer and discuss diabetes topics. There will be a panel discussion for those recently diagnosed with diabetes as well as those who have had the condition for a while. Expert speakers will talk about understanding the connection between diabetes and heart disease and how to deal with stress. There also will be free foot screening, cholesterol testing and door prizes.

Spanish and sign language interpretation will be available. Registration is $5, which includes lunch. Scholarships are available to cover registration costs.
