LECTURE HOSTED BY BLACK PROGRAMS


New Mexico State University's Black Programs will host a lecture by Eric Abercrumbie, who has a doctorate in interdisciplinary studies and is highly recognized for his work with cultural diversity, on Feb. 9 in the Fulton Center. His lecture titled "Unity within the Community" will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.

This is part of NMSU's celebration of Black History Month.

LATIN AMERICA STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM PRESENTATION

The Center for Latin America and Border Studies will present a public lecture, "Study Abroad in Mexico: Social movements, development and change," by Peggy Valdes from the Mexico Solidarity Network Feb. 12. The presentation will be from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Nason House, 1200 University Ave., directly across from Kinko's.

QUILT SHOW IN CORBETT

The Las Colcheras Quilt Show will take place Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the second floor lobby and ballrooms of Corbett Center Student Union.

NMSU MUSEUM HOSTS A SATURDAY FAMILY WORKSHOP

The New Mexico State University Museum will host a children and family workshop, with craft projects that will reflect a 1930s theme, on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

For the workshop, titled "Valentine's Papel Picado," participants will use traditional techniques of cutting designs into tissue paper, making Valentines to take home.

The workshop is free and the materials are provided. No sign up is required, but large groups should call ahead to make reservations. The University Museum is located at University Avenue and Solano Drive.

STUDY ABROAD FAIR

The Study Abroad Office will hold its spring Study Abroad Fair Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lower lobby of the Corbett Center Student Union. This is the 11th biannual information session on study abroad through New Mexico State University. The event will promote summer language study and semester/year-long opportunities for study abroad with NMSU partners.
