Employment Extravaganza will have opportunities for all majors

New Mexico State University students of all majors are invited to attend Employment Extravaganza 2008 to meet and speak with employers ranging from small regional businesses to national corporations and agencies.

The career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 in the Corbett Center Ballrooms. Participants will have the chance to speak with multiple employers to set up internships, co-ops and permanent employment.

"College students learn the theory and discipline of their fields, but that is not everything they will need to know," said Mary Berry, coordinator for the NMSU Cooperative Education and Internship Program. "They should be taking planned steps to turn themselves into strong employment candidates."

Berry said about 60-70 employers are expected at the fair, from local employers, such as Tresco Incorporated, to national employers, including All-State Insurance and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Inspection Agency.

Participants should dress professionally and bring several copies of their resume. Berry said students also should visit http://careerservices.nmsu.edu to view the full list of participants so they choose employers to meet with, prepare and maximize their time at the fair.

Berry said visiting students with WAC Basketball Teams of other universities, who will be in town that week, also are invited to the career fair to explore opportunities that might not be available on their campus.
