Educators' Job Fair brings out-of-state opportunities

New Mexico State University's Career Services and the College of Education have invited educators from all over the region to attend the 2008 Educators' Job Fair, where school districts from 13 states will be represented, including California, Texas, Colorado and Nebraska.

The fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 21 and 22 in the Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms and will be open to the public.

Steve Salway, director of NMSU Career Services, said the fair is the best recruiting forum for educators in the southwest. More than 100 school districts from the western U.S. will be looking for candidates for K-12, administrative, band, art and coaching positions.

"This is a golden opportunity for educators because many of these school districts are looking for positions for the next academic year," Salway said.

Participants are encouraged to visit the NMSU Career Services Web site, http://careerservices.nmsu.edu, in order to register. They can prepare for their job fair interviews by researching the districts in advance.

There also will be an open forum with networking opportunities from 4-6 p.m. April 20 in the Dona Ana Room in Corbett Center.
