Ramon Dominguez named interim associate provost

Ramon Dominguez, the interim campus executive officer of New Mexico State University's Carlsbad campus and former president of El Paso Community College, has been named interim associate provost at NMSU effective July 1.

The associate provost provides oversight and leadership to the NMSU community college system, chairs the Diversity Council and the General Education Committee and deals with student affairs.

"Dr. Dominguez will bring to the position a professional trajectory of excellence, a wealth of experience and a profound sense of community to NMSU," said Waded Cruzado-Salas, executive vice president and provost.

Dominguez has been a faculty member in the College of Education's Department of Educational Management and Development since 2001. He previously was president of El Paso Community College and also had served as EPCC's executive vice president, associate vice president for student services, and in various other roles during a 30-year period.

Dominguez holds four academic degrees - a bachelor's in secondary education and a master's in counseling and guidance from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Specialist in Education and Ph.D. in educational administration from NMSU.
