The New Mexico State University operated radio station KRWG-FM was honored with several awards at the 2007 New Mexico Associated Press Broadcasters Awards.
KRWG-FM competes for the NMAP Broadcasters Awards with stations across the state including stations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
The awards, for coverage in 2007, were presented during the group's 26th annual convention. Entries were judged by Associated Press broadcast members in Michigan.
KRWG-FM won in a variety of categories. In general news, KRWG placed first for Jodi Breisler's "Cockfighting Ban;" second for Marco Grajeda's "Bridge Wait Times;" and third for Evan Woodward's "Operation Stonegarden."
KRWG-FM also placed first in sports program for Jessica Borchert's "Tough Enough to Wear Pink," and second place in both documentary for Evan Woodward's "Operation Stonegarden" and continuing coverage for Marco Grajeda's and Evan Woodward's "Juarez Femicides."
All of the awards were presented Saturday, April 26, at the annual Associated Press Broadcasters Awards Banquet in Albuquerque.
