FFA members meet for state convention June 2-4

The 80th Annual New Mexico FFA State Convention will be June 2-4 in Las Cruces on the New Mexico State University campus.

FFA members will gather for contests, workshops, awards and officer elections during the three-day event. This year's theme is "Believe in Blue, Trust in Gold."

Students will compete in a variety of contests, such as public speaking and marketing. The winners of the contests will receive their awards during the convention. Some students also will receive awards for projects completed during the year.

Current state officers will give their retiring addresses and the new officer team will be introduced and installed.

The keynote speaker will be Bryan Fiese, co-founder of Motivated Proformance, a company offering a variety of motivational programs. He has a broad background in business, including management, marketing and training. He also has authored many books and directed a movie.

"The 80th Annual New Mexico FFA Convention should be one of the best ever. The state FFA officer team has revamped the convention schedule and I believe it will be an exciting event for everyone that attends. As always it will be a showcase of some of the best young people that New Mexico has to offer," said Les Purcella, state supervisor of agricultural education and FFA.

New Mexico FFA has more than 4,000 members spanning 87 chapters and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for growth and success through agricultural education.
