4-H members to meet for state conference July 14-18

The 85th Annual State 4-H Conference will be held July 14-18 at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

During the week-long event, 4-H members from across the state will gather for contests, workshops, evening sessions and awards ceremonies. This year's theme is "MP4-H."

"State 4-H Conference is an opportunity for youth from around New Mexico to explore their talents through competing in a variety of contests. While preparing for these contests youth master valuable skills for their future. It also provides a chance for youth to establish lifelong friendships with fellow 4-Hers," said Amy Zemler, 4-H activities specialist.

Participants will compete in a variety of contests, such as land judging, crop judging and entomology. The winners of the contests will receive their awards during the evening sessions every night.

A talent show will be held on Wednesday, and those competing in the Fashion Magic contest will take part in a fashion show during the Wednesday evening session.

The keynote speaker is Justin Boudreau, who will present a program on empowerment. Boudreau is a former high school teacher and coach of the year and also has co-authored a book for teenagers titled "Gearing Up: Inside and Out for a Greater Life."

The NMSU 4-H program is dedicated to enabling youth to become productive, well-informed, self-reliant and responsible adults.
