McDonough withdraws from NMSU interim president post

Bob Gallagher, Chair of the Board of Regents at New Mexico State University, has announced that James McDonough, who was selected to serve as NMSU's interim president, has withdrawn his acceptance of the position. His decision was due to a health concern that he was unaware of at the time of his acceptance.

"Jim's health is of the utmost importance to all of us. He will remain in our thoughts and we wish him well," Gallagher said.

The Regents will discuss candidates for the interim president position in an executive session during their July 14 retreat, and may announce a selection at their board meeting on July 15. Both the retreat and the meeting are at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero, N.M.
