NMSU HOSTS VOLLEYBALL CAMPS


New Mexico State University will host a Setter/Attacker Specialty Camp and the Libero Specialty Camp July 26-27.

The Setter/Attacker Specialty Camp will allow athletes to learn the offensive side of volleyball. Each session begins with group demonstrations and instruction by NMSU Volleyball Coach Michael Jordan. The Single-Item-Focus style of teaching allows participants to master the art of setting and attacking one step at a time. Participants will begin with the basic fundamentals and gradually move to more advanced concepts.

NMSU assistant coaches and current Aggie players will instruct in small groups of no more than 10 campers to one coach. This camp will cost $150.

The Libero Specialty Camp will focus on the defensive art of digging and passing the ball. Each session will begin with group demonstrations and instruction by Coach Jordan. The Single-Item-Focus style of teaching allows participants to master the Libero position one-step at a time. Participants will begin with the basic fundamentals and gradually move to more advanced concepts.

Aggie players will instruct in small groups of no more than eight campers to one coach. Drills will be designed according to skill level. The camp will cost $150.

NMSU HOSTS BIOINFORMATICS SUMMER PROGRAM

High School students interested in bioinformatics are encouraged to participate in a camp held by the Computer Science Department at New Mexico State University July 28-Aug 8.

Bioinformatics is a study that uses computer science techniques to conduct biological research. Students will receive their books, materials and lunches free as well as a stipend for participating in the program.
