NMSU College of Business posts strong enrollment increase

The College of Business is a popular place on the campus of New Mexico State University. For the fall 2008 semester, the college posted a 5.4 percent increase in undergraduate students from the previous year. The number of graduate students in the college is up almost 23 percent.


"This is great news and a credit to our outstanding faculty and the programs we offer to our students," said Garrey Carruthers, dean of the College of Business. "It shows substantial growth in both the undergraduate and graduate enrollment. Our MBA program in particular continues to grow at a good pace."

More than 280 students are enrolled in the MBA program this semester. That is more than a 27 percent increase in the past year. The college also posted a 7.5 percent increase in student credit hours, a statistic kept by the New Mexico Higher Education Department.

Last week NMSU reported record enrollment of more than 31,000 students systemwide. The increase was led by strong increases at NMSU community colleges in Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Dona Ana and Grants. NMSU's Las Cruces campus showed a nearly 3 percent increase in student headcount.
