NMSU's College of Agriculture and Home Economics to host teaching symposium

The New Mexico State University College of Agriculture and Home Economics will host the 2008 Western Region Teaching Symposium Sept. 19-20 at the Hotel Encanto in Las Cruces.

The theme of the symposium is "Crossroads: The Integration of Teaching and Scholarship." It is being held to facilitate an exchange of ideas about teaching and learning between land-grant institutions in the western states.

NMSU faculty members from CAHE, the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences will address the symposium theme and cover other topics such as service learning, teaching diverse audiences in higher education, distance education and "clicker" technology during the two-day event.

Keynote speaker Brian P. Coppola, professor of chemistry at the University of Michigan, will present his program, "The Signpost at the Crossroad: Here There Be Dragons," Friday morning. Dinner and entertainment will be held Friday night.
