NMSU to celebrate Homecoming 2008

The New Mexico State University Alumni Association will celebrate Homecoming 2008, "Rockin' with Aggie Pride," Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 2, with numerous alumni events and the Aggie Homecoming football game against Boise State.


The Associated Students of NMSU will hold a Halloween carnival from 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 28 on the east side of Aggie Memorial Stadium. There will be campus activities for children and their families. The new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight," will be shown for free at 9 p.m. inside the stadium.

Homecoming events will start up again Oct. 30, beginning with the 8th Annual Danny Villanueva Scholarship Breakfast from 7:30-9:30 a.m. in the Corbett Center Student Union ballrooms. For tickets, contact the NMSU Chicano Programs at (575) 646-4206.

The Alumni Association will hold Reunion Dinners for the classes of 1948, 1958 and 1968 from 6:30-8 p.m. The dinner for the class of 1948 will be held in the Luna Room in Corbett Center; the class of 1958 will be in the Colfax Room in Corbett; and the class 1968 will be in the Otero Room.

ASNMSU will hold a bonfire and pep rally at 7 p.m., which will include fireworks and a free concert by the NMSU Pride Band.

Also, the NMSU Women's Volleyball Team will take on Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m.

Homecoming activities for Oct. 31 will start with the College of Agriculture and Home Economics' Recognition Breakfast for distinguished alumni at 8 a.m. at the Gerald Thomas Hall Windmill.

The College of Education will hold a Distinguished Alumni Tea Reception at 10 a.m. in the O'Donnell Hall Atrium and Lobby.

The College of Health and Social Services will hold a Distinguished Alumni Reception at 10 a.m. in the Aggie Memorial Tower Room 119.

The College of Engineering will hold an Alumni Luncheon for distinguished alumni from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Corbett Center ballrooms.

The Alumni Association will hold a Distinguished Alumni Dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the Corbett Center ballrooms. Distinguished Alumni from all colleges will be recognized.

A Cowboy Dance will be held at 8 p.m. at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. The dance is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, and all alumni and friends are welcome.

On Nov. 1, Homecoming events will kick off with the 2008 Homecoming Parade. The parade will start on University Avenue by the Pan American Center at 10 a.m. and will continue west until reaching Knox Street, past Skeen Hall.

ASNMSU will hold an Alumni Luncheon for all alumni who served in ASNMSU as a student at 11:30 a.m. in the Conroy Honors Center.

NMSU Dona Ana Community College will hold a Distinguished Alumni Reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call (575) 528-7070.

In preparation for the football game, an Alumni and Friends Tailgate Party will be held at 3 p.m. next to Parking Lot A. The tailgate party is sponsored by the NMSU Foundation, Aggie Athletic Club, A-Club and the Alumni Association.

The Aggie Football Team will face Boise State at 5 p.m. in the Aggie Memorial Stadium. For ticket information call (575) 646-1420.

On Nov. 2, the Alumni Association will hold the First Annual Alumni Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. For $50 per person, which includes lunch, alumni can end the Homecoming weekend with a relaxing round of golf. Non-golfers can try their hands at the putting green, where a golf pro will be teaching the basics from 11 a.m. to noon.
