NMSU DANCE FACULTY MEMBERS HOLD EVENT IN EL PASO


New Mexico State University dance faculty Lucilene de Geus and Paco Antonio, who are also married, will hold a performance titled "Cabaret Ole" at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Chamizal Theatre in El Paso.

The couple will perform both traditional and comic flamenco. Students from NMSU's dance programs Sol y Arena, Alma d'arte and the Desert Moon Academy for the Arts also will perform.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students.

NMSU MUSEUM HOSTS SATURDAY WORKSHOP

The New Mexico State University Museum will host a Saturday children and family workshop with craft projects that reflect a Pueblo theme from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 25.

This week's workshop is titled "Basket Weaving."

The workshop is free and the materials are provided. Sign up is not required, but large groups should call ahead to make reservations. The NMSU museum is located at University Avenue and Solano Drive.

HIGH SCHOOL BANDS COMPETE AT NMSU

New Mexico State University will host the high school band competition the "Tournament of Bands" Saturday, Oct. 25, at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Thirty-one high school bands will compete from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The finals will be held from 8 to 11 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the door and will cost $10 for general admission and $5 for children 6-12 years old. Children younger than six are admitted free.

The New Mexico State University Music Department will hold a saxophone studio recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Music Center Recital Hall.
