LAS CRUCES SYMPHONY COMES TO NMSU


The Las Cruces Symphony will perform at New Mexico State University Nov. 1 and 2 at the Music Center Recital Hall.

NMSU DANCE FACULTY MEMBERS HOLD EVENT IN EL PASO

New Mexico State University dance faculty Lucilene de Geus and Paco Antonio, who also are married, will hold a performance titled "Cabaret Ole" at 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 1, at the Chamizal Theatre in El Paso.

The couple will perform both traditional and comic flamenco. Students from NMSU's dance programs Sol y Arena, Alma d'arte and the Desert Moon Academy for the Arts also will perform.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students.

NMSU HOLDS STUDIO RECITALS

New Mexico State University will hold a low brass studio recital Nov. 2 and a horn studio recital Nov. 4. Both recitals will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center Recital Hall.

NMSU MUSEUM HOSTS SATURDAY WORKSHOP

The New Mexico State University Museum will host a Saturday children and family workshop with craft projects that reflect a Pueblo theme from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 1.

This week's workshop is titled "Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skulls."

The workshop is free and the materials are provided. Sign up is not required, but large groups should call ahead to make reservations. The NMSU museum is located at University Avenue and Solano Drive.

NMSU MUSEUM SHOWS SECOND FILM IN ANTHROPOLOGICAL FILM SERIES

The New Mexico State University Museum will show the film "Maria Martinez: Native American Pottery Maker of San Ildefonso" at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Museum Auditorium located at Kent Hall.

The film is part of an anthropological film series. It is about the famous potter Maria Martinez and shows her pottery making skills through mixing clay, constructing the pottery, building the kiln and decorating.

The museum is located at University Avenue and Solano Drive.

NMSU HOLDS DEDICATION CONCERT

The New Mexico State University Music Department will hold a free dedication concert for Edith and F.E. Atkinson at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Music Center Recital Hall.

Atkinson included a major gift to the NMSU Department of Music in his will. Atkinson passed away in June 2007 at the age of 97.
