Sign-up started for Educators' Job Fair

Sign-up has begun for the 2001 Educators' Job Fair sponsored by New Mexico State University's Placement and Career Services and College of Education.

The fair, which is billed as "one of the premier educator job fairs in the Southwest" because of the number of districts represented, will be held April 23-24 in the Corbett Center Ballrooms on the Las Cruces campus.

More than 130 school districts are expected to participate in what should be the largest fair in the history of the NMSU event.

"This is an excellent opportunity for candidates to reach a broad base of employers," said Roseanne Bensley, assistant director of NMSU's Placement and Career Services. "Because of the huge teacher shortages, schools are more aggressive than in the past."

The placement office is planning for 500 candidates from across the country to participate in the structured 30-minute interviews.

There is a registration process and varying fees for participation. For more information, call Placement and Career Services at (505) 646-2849 or (505) 646-1112.

Registered candidates are encouraged to schedule interviews on-line and to check the site regularly for new districts added daily. However, on-site interview scheduling will be allowed on a space available basis. Interviews can be scheduled on-line through April 15 at Placement and Career Services' Web site, located at http://www.nmsu.edu/pment.
