Information meetings for Spanish immersion courses to be held

New Mexico State University's Study Abroad Office will hold two information meetings on March 12 and 13 for those interested in Spanish immersion programs. The first meeting is for members of the community and will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the Terrace Gallery of Branigan Library in Las Cruces. The second meeting is for NMSU students and will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in Room 315 of NMSU's Corbett Center.

Information will be available on language institutes in Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica and Guatemala. The director of the Fenix Language Institute in Zacatecas, Mexico, will be present to answer questions about that program.

"Fenix Language Institute is one of several programs we work with in Latin America, all of which provide low-cost immersion programs in Spanish," said Don Kurtz, foreign studies adviser for the Department of Languages and Linguistics. "Fenix is particularly attractive because it is located in Zacatecas, a lovely colonial town with relatively few English-speaking visitors."
